Govind Vishwas was born in 1982 in Aaragahi (Ambikapur) a small village of (Undivided MadhyaPradesh) Chattishgarh, India. Govind lives in Bhopal with his wife Poonam Jain Vishwas who is also an Artist and his son. His artwork is inspired by nature, architecture and design. There has been a lot of influence of natural phenomena and its effects on nature and environment. Govind’s family was a witness to the separation of Bangladesh in 1971 and by listening to the stories from his grandparents Govind’s art has been influenced in that direction as well.
Govind as a child was very much keen to learn and understand art and was very fond of colours, clay and natural objects. He did his schooling in his village. In 2001 he decided to move to Indore for further studies . Still he moved in 2001 and joined Bachelors of Fine Arts, at Govt. Institute of Fine Arts, Indore (GIFA) where his core subject was Painting, Sketching, Mural Art, Water colour, Glass Designing and landscaping, but due to some unavoidable reason he could not complete his bachelors. Then in 2005 he joined Bachelors of Visual Arts (BVA) in Painting, at Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda with Creative Paintings, Print making, History of art and Aesthetics, Nude study, Live study, Paper collage, Clay-modelling, Paper sculpture, Photography and Ceramics as core subject. Then in 2010 he joined Masters of Visual Arts (MVA) in Painting, at Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda with Contemporary art, Installation art, Video art, Design and 3D manual modelling with different materials as core subject. He has also specialised in Creative compositions, Painting, Portraits and Ceramics.
In 2012 and 2018, he received the prestigious Pollack Krasner Foundation Grant Award for his contribution to Art. He received Sayed Haider Raza state award 2020.Govind has an array of experience in artwork and has exhibited his artwork at Solo exhibitions in Bhopal, Indore, Baroda, Delhi and lots of Group shows in Delhi, Mumbai, Ranchi, Baroda, Ahmedabad, Goa, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, South Korea, Australia, London, Bangladesh and USA. Govind works on many pieces at the same time; he makes installations, wall works and drawings. He works in both small and big scale.
Govind intends to depict reality in his art and through his art he wishes to show people a whole new world of creativity wherein people develop their interest and become a part of the creative world and bring out their own creativity. As of now Govind’s sole motive is to encourage people to develop their artistic style and to achieve this he tries to interact with as many people as possible who attend his shows, exhibitions or visit his studio.
