A Hindi writer, senior journalist, editor and critic. Thanvi was till recently the founding vice-chancellor of Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication. His works include work Apne Apne Agyeya, and Muanjodaro.

Om Thanvi was born in the town of Phalodi in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. His father was an educationalist and editor of two educational journals. He grew up in Bikaner and took his post-graduation degree in Business Administration from Rajasthan University.

He is the recipient of the Raza Fellowship (2016) for his project on ‘Gandhi and Hindi.’
