Born in 1983, Rajesh earned his BFA and MFA with distinction from Sir J. J. School of Art in Mumbai. He has received an Honor of Fellowship in Bachelor of Fine Art. Since graduating from art school, his works have been displayed at The Culture Story (Singapore), The Luxe Art Museum (Singapore), Kunst Zeug Haus Museum (Switzerland), Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke (Mumbai), Singapore Art Fair, and Bodhi Art Gallery (Mumbai), among many other group shows. In March 2015, the President of India invited him to the honor of the Artist-In-Residence Programme at Rashtrapati Bhavan, INDIA. In 2009, Futur Foundation Granted A fellowship to live and work in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland for a short span of time, Rajesh Kargutkar has become one of the most dynamic and critically acclaimed emerging artists on the Mumbai art scene. Rajesh’s inimitable panache for experimentation and his command over the craft of painting has earned him a solid reputation and a range of awards. He is the recipient of the Lalibai Dharmdas Bhambani Scholarship awarded to young artists given by Bombay Art Society, Maharashtra State Award, the Shri Bhim B Purohit Memorial Bombay Art Society Award, the National Scholarship (visual arts) given by the Indian Ministry of Culture, the Bendre Foundation Award, and the Indo-Swiss Student Award from the Consulate General of Switzerland. He lives and works in Mumbai, India.
