Richi Bhatia (1990), received her M.F.A in Painting from M. S University, Vadodara (2015); P.G. Diploma in Curatorial Studies from Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai (2018).
A multidisciplinary experimentation with both medium and form is integral to the nature of Bhatia’s artistic practice. Her work traverses from extreme intuitive practices to prolonged processes trying to interrogate ‘body’ in its varied surroundings. Body: seen through the lens of other, anomaly, oppression, social setup, as a psyche that deals with anxiety and shame; as an inhabitant of a space, yet also as a carrier - intervening personal histories.
Bhatia was one of the Visiting Artist Fellows for Laxmi Mittal and family South Asia Institute (2020); She was one of the representative of M.S. University at Jenesys 2.0 Cultural Exchange Program, Japan (2013); and received the prestigious Nasreen Mohammedi Scholarship, (2013).
She has showcased her work at Making Space :10 years of space 118, curated by Saloni Doshi, Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai, 2019; She’s part of Seprations Geography, an ongoing project by Daak Vaak (India) and Mandarjazail (Pakistan).
She is currently working for Art Dubai as Gallery Relations Assistant (2022); She has worked with The Guild for the retrospective of Sudhir Patwardhan, Walking through the Soul City, curated by Nancy Adajania (2019); and as a Researcher at the Bodhana Arts and Research Foundation for the retrospective of Prabhakar Barwe, Inside the Empty Box, curated by Jesal Thacker at NGMA, Mumbai.(2018 – 19).
